Slot Machine Location

Books have been written on this item, and the conflict and squabbling about where the "hot" slots are located in a casino are still there – 60 yrs after slot machine games were first added to the gaming floor in gambling dens.

The traditional rule is that the best one armed bandits were located just inside the entrance of the casino; so that casino fanatics passing by would see jackpot winners and be baited to come unto the gaming floor and play. Our viewpoint is that this is not so anymore.

Nearly all of the big name casinos presently are gigantic complexes and it is not possible to see inside from the sidewalk, so there is no longer a reason to position the ‘loose’ slots near any doorways.

Another traditional rule is that loose slot games are installed on the major aisles in the casinos, again so that more fun seekers could see winning jackpots and be encouraged to play. However, we find that this also is not a universal rule any more.

What casinos found over the years is that people walking down the busy aisles were frequently on the way to somewhere else. If they played the slots at all, they would simply put in their loose change because they happened to be walking by. Win or lose, they would very often not stop to keep playing. And the last thing a casino wants is for someone to win a jackpot by playing only a few coins and then not stay to put it all back in!

In recent times, casinos are constantly changing their perspective about where to place the loose slots.

Books have been set forth on this issue, and the controversy and feuds about where the "hot" slot machines are installed in the casino are still bubbling – over sixty years after the slot machines were 1st placed in casinos.

The quintessential rule is that the more favourable slot machine games were placed just inside the entrance of the casino; so that potential gamblers passing by would see real jackpot winners … be infatuated enough to come inside and play. Our sneaking suspicion is that this is definitely no longer so.
